This is another shot from Naples beach last week. There were so many children playing in the warm shallow waters it was really fun to watch. I think these moments are very subtle and stay with us our entire lives. I have some memories like this somewhere back, at least this pail helped me remember building a sandcastle. Such are the days when I had no concerns in the world and my life was carefree. Now, maybe a little of that from time to time might do me some good.
Half Moon Bay
A couple of weeks ago we stopped in Half Moon Bay and walked the beach at sunset. The beaches, waves and landscape of the Pacific are so much more dramatic than the west coast of Florida where I live. Even though I grew up in California, now when I return it all seems so new and interesting. Perhaps the same is true the other way around, each is unique. In any case, in the states we have a long weekend ahead so maybe I’ll head to the beach again, there’s always something fun there. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
Irresistible Force
In Saint Joseph Parish in Barbados is Bathsheba Park and along the beach are these rocks eroded by the waves at the bottom. Water is one of the most powerful forces on the planet yet you can put your hand in it, swim in the warm waters of the tropics, take a shower, and it all seems so harmless. I think it’s one of those things that’s hard to fathom until you experience it’s force first hand. Reminds me of Niagara Falls, until you see it for yourself you really can’t imagine. But back to Barbados, the waters here seemed perfectly harmless, warm and inviting and the only force I was feeling was urge to take a nap in the shade.

Magic Dusk
Minutes after a sunset are sometimes the best to enjoy; the light of dusk on an ocean shore on a warm day is simply exquisite. I think that if I didn’t have a real job, I might just spend every evening by the beach capturing sunsets at dusk. But for now, the occasional picture is enough to keep me happy. Happy Friday everyone and I hope this brings a touch of that magic to your day.

Castles
I wonder if the child that built this had any idea someone would come along with a tripod and photograph it and then put it on a blog where people all over the world can see it. I think not. But, that’s what I did, and whomever created this, I’d like to thank you, we can all now admire your fine work.

DeSoto Magic
In many cases I prefer to take a picture after the sunset, the sky tends to be a little deeper and if the clouds are right, the glow can last for fifteen minutes or more. The waves appear calm which is due to the long exposure I used. Actually this is a combination of exposures which is what gives it the surreal feel. But come to think of it, the picture is about as close as I can get to the colors I experienced over that fifteen minute period. A magical moment indeed.

Timing is Everything
About a half hour before sunset I told the taxi driver to take me to this beach as I wanted to get a photo. Sounds simple enough, right? For whatever reason he dropped me about a mile from here at a trail-head. To this day I still can’t imagine why. Of course I’m not from the area so only after he drove off did I realize my predicament. A quick look at the trail-head sign to get my bearings and I started walking towards the beach, somewhat disappointed, knowing that by the time I reached it the sun would be down. Going as fast as I could I felt a little helpless as I could see the sun setting through the trees. I should have just enjoyed the moment surrounded by huge pines, alone on a quite trail, only I had that feeling you get when you’re late for a meeting. As I walked my mind kept going back to the taxi driver, what was he thinking? When I finally reached the beach, the sun had just set. Somewhat defeated, I setup my tripod and took this photo and it was only then that I realized I had arrived for the picture at the perfect time.
