All of Vancouver is amazing, but especially the False Creek section. When I shot this the area was full of photographers and wedding parties. Kind of reminds me of Pelicans back home in Florida. Where there’s Pelicans, there’s fish, you can always tell. In Vancouver, where there’s photographers there’s really cool stuff to see. Okay, I know that’s a really lame analogy, but it’s true.

Southside Sunset
Sometimes when I’m walking around looking for things to take photos of I can draw a blank. However when I looked up at this building in Vancouver the last rays of the day reflected off the face giving it this glow. By itself, the building is not that remarkable, but the sunset elevated it to the status of a photo opportunity. At least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

St. Pauls
This is St. Pauls hospital located along Burrard Street in Vancouver. I was intrigued by the old architecture with all the bricks in what is essentially a state of the art facility.

Residence Inn Lobby
This is the lobby of the Residence Inn in Vancouver. I only stayed here once but my first impression was that “it’s not your father’s” Residence Inn. Apparently it was recently renovated and the rooms where all state of the art, very clean and modern. Late one night when I came in from a photo walk I took this while the lobby was empty. I think I caught the hotel manager by surprise as I setup my tripod. In any case, once I got the picture I headed up to my room to use the state of the art microwave to make a bag of popcorn.

Library
I happened to walk by this building the other day but it took a while before realizing it was the Vancouver library. Lately I read books from a tablet and haven’t been inside a library for ages. In any case, I liked the architecture of the library which seems vaguely Roman. Well, maybe a little more than vaguely.

Yaletown Condo
I like Thomas Hawk’s photography which has a lot of buildings at odd angles. This not so much, but I’m intrigued by the regular pattern of lines in the architecture. This photo is from the Yaletown section of Vancouver and I know that because the name of the subway stop nearby is Yaletown Roundhouse. A place where the rail roundhouse operated in ages past and now a trendy section of town. But then, when it comes to Vancouver, pretty much every section of town is trendy. It’s a trendy city.

Stepping Stones
This fountain can be found along the Coal Harbor section of Vancouver. It’s unique in that it has stepping stones such that you can walk right through the fountain, almost like a stream in an urban setting. I found it quite peaceful, however the night I was there a young man on his stunt bike was hopping from stone to stone on one wheel. Probably not what the architects had in mind, but I was impressed nonetheless.

Van Wezel Stairs
These stairs are on the grounds of the Van Wezel Performing Arts center in Sarasota Florida. Actually, I couldn’t think of anything to write about these, I’m coming up blank. How’s this, …Often patrons walk these stairs dressed to the nines in anticipation of a great performance. Hmmm, well maybe I should just let it go. You can make up your own story, it’s probably much better than mine.

Trinity
This is the Trinity Episcopal Parish Church in St. Augustine, Florida. There are so many people that like to visit St. Augustine that I had to get up before dawn to capture a few shots without the tourists. In general, this little town of is a photographers paradise, an abundance of subjects in every direction.

Symmetry
This is my impression of a foot bridge along False Creek in Vancouver. A wedding party with photographers in tow were right behind me as I set up. The happy couple walked around me and stood in front of my camera on the bridge. With all the excitement they assumed I was one of the hired photographers and were posing for the shot. Realizing the error, they giggled and moved on. And of course all of that has nothing to do with my artistic renderings of Vancouver’s urban architecture.
