This is one cool place on Granville Street in Vancouver. I was just passing by but could feel the vibes of this place. A classic venue.

I could make something up about this but that just doesn’t seem right. The fact is I was walking back to my hotel and noticed this and, well, I’m influenced by Thomas Hawk and I think to myself, that’s a Thomas Hawk shot! So this is a Rick Schwartz pretending to be Thomas Hawk shot. And if you thought this is a lame bit of writing, or even a bit weird, that makes two of us. Just look at the photo and pretend you never read this.

This is a chamber in the Banff Springs Hotel which to me looks like it belongs to a king. I’m sure there’s another name for this room, but the first time I saw it King’s Chamber came to mind. The architecture of the Banff Springs is designed after a Scottish castle and with rooms like this you could easily be transported to another place and time.

Sometimes it seems the only way to go is up. Whether I can’t go any lower or, the prospects are simply looking good, I try to keep in mind that it’s not the destination but the journey.

This is the Clark Atrium at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Native American themes are showcased throughout this airport and, in my opinion, provide a sense of reverence for the land you are about to enter. Unless of course you’re leaving.

This is a corridor in the Banff Springs Hotel. I came here late at night to capture the mood and feeling of the architecture which was designed after a Scottish Castle. I only hope I didn’t disturb the ghosts that surely must inhabit this chamber.

Not long ago while waiting for a flight I had time to look around at Vancouver airport.

I’ve been through Dallas hundreds of times at the airport but recently I stayed there for a couple of days. On that trip I had an hour to walk around downtown on a Sunday. My impressions were that it’s flat, lots of tall buildings, lots of glass, and deserted on weekends. I need to go back on a week day.

In Vancouver, the Burrard bridge is a favorite subject of mine. It’s surrounded by marinas, apartment buildings, boats, water, parks, …it’s what we refer to as ‘target rich’.
