I happened to snap this the other day when by luck I was sitting in a window seat prior to landing in Vancouver. According to Wikipedia, Mt. Rainier is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. Suffice to say this is one big mountain and I can’t help but be impressed each time I see it.

Rod and Reel Sunrise
At the very end of Anna Marie Island in Florida is the Rod and Reel. It’s a combination fishing pier, restaurant and Inn. Being at the very end of the island it’s off the beaten path and tends to be a favorite of the locals. I can honestly say that they have the best Grouper sandwich bar none. Whenever we have guest, this is probably our favorite spot for an authentic Florida Gulf Coast feel. Give it a try if your in the area, you won’t be disappointed.

Vogue Theatre
The Vogue is on Granville Avenue in downtown Vancouver. Seems like a cool place to listen to some cool jazz.

JPL Dusk
In the town of Jasper everyone refers to the Jasper Park Lodge as JPL. JPL is a lodge with cabins about 10 minutes from town such that it’s rather tranquil during the summer rush. I took this at dusk from one of the many platforms around the lake. A perfect setting for watching the sun go down and listening to the call of the Loons which, if you haven’t yet heard, is a real treat.

9.5
The other day we went to dinner with our neighbors and on the way home Dave had the presence of mind to suggest we stop and look at the sunset. And it’s a good thing he did because the display we got that evening was nothing short of spectacular. At the end I think I said something to the effect that I’d never seen a 10, but this one rated at least a 9.5. Nonetheless, I didn’t have my camera so I snapped away with my iPhone.

Public Pier Walkway
On Anna Marie Island in Florida there is a public pier where you can fish, have a meal or just watch the dolphins and manatees as they frolic in the water. I arrived here at sunrise one morning only to find two other photographers with the same idea. Maybe it’s just me but I seem to be seeing a lot more photographers these days and they all seem to show up at the same spots. Or maybe I just never paid attention and they’ve always been there. Whatever the case, this turned out be be another morning in paradise and I am glad I was there to capture the moment.

Bow River
This is the Bow River in Banff, Alberta. It runs along the edge of town as it meanders among surrounding peaks. When I first arrived I didn’t know which way the sun set, in fact it was in the opposite direction. By the time I figured it out I was under attack by the mosquitoes which multiplied in recent rains so I quickly snapped this and headed for cover.

Snowberrys
Walking around the seawall of Stanley Park is spectacular and scores of people do it every day. However if you ever walk through the interior forested paths it’s a completely different experience. These are Snowberrys that bloom in June and July. I imagine that after I finished taking this picture the fairies came back out and returned to their duties, …whatever those may be.

Athabasca Falls
Large amounts of water pass through The Athabasca Falls in Jasper Nation Park. Here the beauty of nature can be experienced on several platforms that immerse you in the sights and sounds that are not soon forgotten. The water comes from the Athabasca Glacier and empties into the Athabasca River which is a favorite of white water rafters.

Beach Houses
These houses are in Bradenton Beach in Florida. I’m not sure how long they’ve been here but I recently noticed them when walking back to my car after taking pictures of a sunset. I think I never noticed because they are across the street from the beach and when I’m driving or riding my bike on Gulf of Mexico drive, my eyes are always glancing at the beach, not the other way. These just add to the fun feel of the beach town that is Bradenton Beach.
